Create a Vignette Painting with Line and Wash
March 6-7, 2025 9:30-4:30 with a 1 hour lunch. Learn how to change any painting into a vignette (“incomplete”) painting. Using a vignette design can make a dull painting into something interesting. In addition, this painting will be done in Paul’s matchstick and ink method. Line and Wash was once a popular method of creating a watercolor. Artists have used a variety of tools to create line drawings with ink prior to painting. Paul shows you how to design a vignette and explains the basic rules to follow. This earlier painting of by Paul will be used as the base idea for the vignette. The color palette will be the primaries in red, blue, and yellow. (Cadmium Red Light, Prussian Blue, and Cadmium Yellow medium.) Supplies are provided for an additional $15.00, at the beginning of the day.
